Introducing Our Interim Executive Director

Please Welcome Our Interim Executive Director

Greetings!

As I retire from my role at The Sophia Way, I do so with excitement for the organization's future, assured of my successor's ability to lead, but also with a heavy heart for all the people I will miss. Please see the message below from our Board Chair introducing our Interim Executive Director.

Each of you has meant a great deal to me...knowing you has enriched my life...and, my experience here at The Sophia Way has profoundly influenced me in countless ways.

With loving regards,
Helen Leuzzi
Executive Director
Message from our Board Chair:

Today we welcome Karina O'Malley as our new Interim Executive Director. She takes the helm of The Sophia Way as someone who has been an important part of the organization since day one. At the inception of The Sophia Way, Karina served in an Advisory Council Role and then later as the Vice-Chair on the Board of Directors. Karina is a powerful advocate of the homeless in her own right. She has fought for the rights of impoverished people her entire adult life. We are thrilled she will be working in this capacity and look forward to The Sophia Way's future.

We also want to express our deep gratitude to Helen Leuzzi whose inspiration birthed The Sophia Way. Helen paved the way with such energy and success that Karina's leadership can continue to assist women from homelessness to independence. Thank you Helen and welcome Karina!

Transition of Executive Director

A Message from our Board of Directors Chair - Janet Donnelly:

Dear patrons of The Sophia Way,

The Sophia Way has been around for 4 years. In that time, it has grown from a small idea of getting women off the street to a powerful force for change and optimism. It has a dynamic, experienced staff and a bold mission to end homelessness. With the opening of the new shelter, Sophia's Place at St. Luke's, and the imminent opening of Sophia's Thrift Shoppe, it has never been more sure of its commitment and its future. The founder, Helen Leuzzi, has given her heart and soul to this vision but has always been clear that she would not stay forever. Now is an opportune moment for The Sophia Way, with the help and guidance of Helen, to seek a new executive director to boldly carry us into the future. The transition will take place over the next few months with the help of an Interim Executive Director. We wish Helen the best for her future endeavors.

Your Invitation to Festa Italiana

Greetings!

As we embark on the New Year we look back and remember that we have accomplished a lot and helped many deserving women "get a leg up in the world" as we continued to fulfill our mission. We begin 2013 with the most significant fund raiser of the year, The Sophia Way benefit dinner and auction. All of us at The Sophia Way are very excited about our benefit event, FESTA ITALIANA as it is shaping up to be quite extraordinary. FESTA ITALIANA will feature an authentic Italian dinner, the recipes for which were arranged by me, our Auction Team, and our esteemed Hilton Chef, Juan Luna; we will also host a cocktail hour with a seafood buffet and appetizers. And, you will be entertained by strolling Italian Minstrels and an amazing string quartet playing classic Italian music. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the many unique and wonderful auction items that have been donated...something for everyone and for every size pocketbook.

This year you can view our silent & live auction items online. Check back often as the list will be updated regularly. Also, look at the fantastic raffle items below we will be offering in our Raffle Drawing, simply amazing!

We look forward to your continued support. Please register and invite your family, friends, co-workers. I look forward to seeing you at FESTA ITALIANA.
With warm regards,

Happy Holidays from The Sophia Way

Greetings!

As the New Year approaches we are reflecting on our - you and The Sophia Way - ability to improve the lives of so many women in 2012. While the need is still great, we are thankful our clients are thoroughly enjoying and appreciating our new shelter - Sophia's Place at St. Luke's. And, we are grateful to Bellevue First Congregational Church for hosting our Eastside Winter Shelter for Women and Children providing emergency shelter and warm meals to many. And, we congratulate many of our clients who have completed this education term at college successfully. So, although we have much more to accomplish in 2013, we - you and The Sophia Way - can look back on 2012 and say WELL DONE! With your continued support and encouragement, we will continue to change and improve lives, provide hope and sustenance to many well-deserving women.

I trust the New Year will bring us closer to our goal of eradicating homelessness in East King County by improving the financial strength of our clients through the execution of our new initiatives i.e. Sophia's Thrift Shoppe. We have much to be thankful for as we end this year on a very high note! From everyone here at The Sophia Way, we wish you a wonderful New Year.

With warm regards,
Helen Leuzzi
